Kissing in Public en masse!

Kevin Jesuino of New City Collective is organizing a Kissing in Public en masse on Wednesday 10th December (Constitution Day, thus a holiday) at 1pm, at the open space between Siam Paragon and Siam Centre. So far, there are 79 confirmed guests and 81 maybes. More details below:

HOW NEW CITY COLLECTIVE WILL GET INVOLVED?

Grab a partner. (an absolute requirement for this event) and come join any other couples that show up at the outdoor open court/fountain between Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery Wednesday December 10, 2008 (that's Constitution Day - a holiday) at 1pm where we will create a kissing in public video involving all participants to be presented to the KIP project website. The exact meeting spot is just outside the BTS entrance that connects with the Pargon entrance. Look for a NCC sign.

WHO SHOULD COME?
Everyone! Gay, Straight, Man, Woman, Transgendered, Thai, Foreigner, Old and Young. It would be great to get a diverse group of people all kissing their partners all at the same time. The only thing we ask is that you make it a 'beautiful kiss'. Humping, groping or sexual innuendos are....errrrr.... NOT ALLOWED!

IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE IT?
Grab a video camera and another set of lips and head out somewhere and film yourselves kissing in public. After you upload your video on Youtube, Google Video, Vimeo, etc., please send a link to kissinginpublic2008@gmail.com . At the end of every month, an audience will vote for the best clip. The winner will receive a free gift from Electric Eel Films

IS THIS PROJECT CREATED BY NEW CITY COLLECTIVE?
No. That's the beautiful part! Originally created by film-maker Anocha Suwichakornpong, New City Collective has just taken up the challenge of filming people kissing in public because it fits our creative mandate and we believe in its purpose.

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS EVENT?
Please contact New City Collective Artistic Director kevinjesuino@gmail.com .

WHAT IS NEW CITY COLLECTIVE?
New City Collective started of a desire to see performing arts take a definitive turn in Thailand, where the audience has been nurtured in dormant waters for too long. The local art scene needed to be swept off its venerable feet and taken to more daring skies. With five shows to its young port-folio, NCC has grown to involve over 13 participants from five different countries. The Collective is an ever-changing entity that swallows up talents to create the unexpected in a city of die-hard conventions.
expose.collective.image Our creative manifesto
1. Expose- Expose art to the unsuspecting audience member.
2. Collective –Creations are the fruit of a collective spirit, bringing together artists from different backgrounds into stunning fireworks.
3. Image- Speak louder than words. Throw images into the air. Let the light rain down.

"New Politics"? I think not...

Since my last entry, so much has been happening in the political arena in Thailand, culminating in the airport siege by the PAD.

There is little point in writing about what how much damage this has done to Thailand and the Thai people, most of it have been covered by the media (and I urge you to seek out as many sources as possible, the Thai media has proved that they have failed on every front to be impartial to all concerned).

Does the situation have to get worse before it gets better? I think we’ll find out in the next couple of days…
